Design Tips | The Story Elves - Help with writing, editing, illustrating and designing your own stories

- Tip -

A story comes to life!

The sketch worked wonderfully, so Scoble the illustrator elf went on to do a final drawing, and also added color to it!

Doesn’t the story feel rich and complete with all of the design choices working together?  Be sure to see all of the steps that led to this story page.

There were a lot of decisions to make, one at a time.  You will see that when you make each decision carefully, the decisions will add up to a beautiful story.

This is one spread.  A spread is a left-facing page and a right-facing page in a book.  (If you look closely, you can see the gutter faintly in between the two pages.)

As I design all of the other spreads in The Waking Prince,  I will continue to use the same background parchment and typefaces.  But each new spread has to be created uniquely, because each spread has its own story text and illustration.
